Lieutenant Commander Matt Whitney is assigned to the Coast Guard’s Office of Port and Facility Compliance and works within the Critical Infrastructure and Cyber security Division where he is responsible for the development of guidance, doctrine and policy used throughout the Marine Transportation System, including Maritime Transportation Security Act regulated facilities.

Lieutenant Commander Whitney is a prior enlisted Information Systems Technician with over 20 years of service in the Coast Guard.  His most recent operational assignments include Sector Hampton Roads, Marine Safety Unit Texas City and Coast Guard Cyber Detachment at U.S. Cyber Command, Ft. Meade, MD.  Lieutenant Commander Whitney holds a B.S. in Business Communications from Old Dominion University and a Masters of Information Technology from Virginia Tech.  He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
